EU 'warmly' hails peace declaration inked by Azerbaijan, Armenia

(MENAFN) The European Union expressed strong approval of the peace agreement signed between Armenia and Azerbaijan on Friday at the White House. The declaration, signed by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in the presence of US President Donald Trump, marks a significant step toward establishing interstate relations and long-term peace in the region.

In a joint statement, European Council President Antonio Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen emphasized the importance of timely implementation of the agreed measures to ensure steady progress toward full normalization between Baku and Yerevan. The EU praised its own diplomatic efforts in encouraging both leaders to take decisive steps and affirmed its commitment to supporting regional connectivity, reconciliation, and sustainable peace and prosperity for communities affected by the conflict.
